Hey all,
Glad you stopped by again. Got a new fun project that Im doing with a friend of mine, Chris Jammal. We are doing quick sketches based on a topic that one of us chooses. Chris chose, a sandwich and a celebrity eating out a sandwich. Chris's drawing came out really great I think.
I ended up drawing Vincent Price eating a rather ghoulish sandwich. K, its a little cheesy but I like where this whole little project is going already. By the way check out Chris's Blog!!

Hey All,
Back again and with an announcement...
I'm finally a free man with lots of free time...not on my own terms of course and the economy has a lot of blame for that.
Its a great thing though and I perceive it as a horizon that I have been staring at for a long time. It means new goals and new activities and new adventures for the future. For one, I have numerous projects that I get to start and finish and I cant wait to share with all of you.

Hey all!
I'm sorry, its been too long but I'm back with a blast from the past. A friend of mine recently found an old high school underground newspaper at his parents place and lo and behold there is a comic I did when I was a Sophomore? ( I think...)
Ummmm... yeah. It sucks. Its really bad but whatever. At least I recognize that it sucks now.
Oh yeah ... I was really into ska... as you can tell. I have no shame (well, I like to think so) but who cares! There were a lot of good bands around the time and I was into it. So screw you for judging me!!
Well, thought I'd just share it with you. Love to hear what you think and please share your old stuff too. Its interesting to see how much people can change and improve their work over the years.

Hey all,
When I was little, there was a large forest in my backyard where I would spend most of my time. There was one part of the wood that my friends and I called Prickely City. The other day I was wondering what it would be like to actually live in a city that was covered with large thorns bushes. This is what I drew. I like the idea, so perhaps you may see more drawings based on this theme :)

Another post!? Well, there is some serious inspirado out there in Blogland and I am just soaking it all up. Thanks to all of those who are sharing their amazing and varied work for everyone to see ;)

I have a tendency to never work on a drawing for more than a few hours. Once I flip to a new sheet of paper, I never go back. I dont do it on purpose, its just a habit I have always had. I guess I have terrible A.D.D. or something. Today I was clearing up my room and found this sketch I did a few months ago. I always liked it and decided to go back and rework it a bit and share it with you all. So... there we go :)

Well then, another post for you all. Spent a few hours drawing at a park near my homestead today. A little kid ran up to me while I was drawing and looked over my shoulder and he said, "those are beautiful!"...aw, thanks kid, you made my day :)
As you can see, I redrew the sketch I posted yesterday. I think this pose works better. My friend, Pete, pointed out that the ankles are a bit off and I agree. So there we go. The other drawing is from listening to too much Sweet the past few days. Wait... you can never have enough sweet.

Hey all,
Its been a while. Couple of sketches to share.
Hmmm... Its funny, once in a while I'll construct what seems to be a pretty successful drawing. Some things just seem to click while sketching and then I step away from it. The next day, its not the same drawing, instead its a basket of bad choices. You see everything that you could draw differently to make it a better drawing. I love that. There is nothing better than that feeling of learning from your mistakes. It just makes you want to try harder next time.

Well, a new post finally and to make up for lost time I have a number of pics to share. I recently finished a year long contract and I am have been dying to be full-time on my own work. One of the first things I got to work on was a submission for the "3 Feet High" gallery show, headed by a swell lady, Andrea Breitman. This is going to be an excellent show that I am very excited to be a part of. So, keep your ear to the ground for when the show opens at Maxwells in Hoboken, NJ. You dont want to miss it! My commute experiences #1...

At one point on my walk to work, I saw a very sketchy fella. Immediately, I could tell something was not quite right. It seemed as though he had just bought all of his clothes from a street vendor. The garments did not fit right on him, like a rich person trying to dress "down" to blue collar attirre. He had a few strands of blonde hair peeping from under his hat which seemed glistening in the morning sun. He had a pudgey old mean old face with a body that tapered to the tips of his toes. He was bent on something because every few steps he would stop and glare over his shoulder, almost focusing on something across the street. As I streamlined past him he stubbed out his cigarette on his jacket which melted a bit of the fake leather jacket he was wearing and the fumes seared my nostrils with a putrid stench. This is what he looked like.
Very Strange indeed...

Well, its the day o' love and this huge post is to celebrate this glorius, fantastical day!!
ahem...
It's a been a little while since I last posted so I'll play a little catch up.
Below, is an old sketch I did at work. Nothing special, plenty of problems with the drawing but I still like it. I was listening to a lot of the Darkness at the time. Cant get enough of their new album, One Way Ticket to Hell, I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of early Queen.

Speaking of music, over the weekend I saw a co-worker and friend of mine, Heather Tilert, perform at the Sidewalk Cafe. Not the sort of music I am really into but she has a wonderful voice and I wish her all the best with her future performances. Quite a hurricane force in the karaoke line up as well and I look forward to the next singing battle with her. You can check out her website at

Another musical note (no pun intended), my good friend, Jesse Doane, recently contacted me which I am very psyched about. I thought I had lost all connections with him and he just pops up out of nowhere to e-mail me! Hooray! For those who dont know, Jesse Doane wrote the music which inspired my College animation, "#6". Which is also the title of the song. He is a mesmirising guitar player, a fantastic programmer and a friend I am very glad to be in contact with again. He has a website that is still under construction but I am sure soon enough it will be hosting some of his brilliant music. Check it out here...
Black Goat Music

Finally, it was the first major snow storm this year on Sunday and in the morning I walked around my neighborhood for a couple of hours and took pictures. I love walking and driving in the snow, it's one my favorite things to do every year. I dont know why, its just very relaxing to me. During that day, I had the chance to bump into a neighbor of mine and talked to him for a bit. I didnt buy him Chinese food this time but he did ask me when Valentines Day was. I love this picture because it captures his pesonalty perfectly to me. He means well and he's a good bloke.

Working for a living...

Heya,
Found out today that my contract has been extended an extra couple of weeks which is great. In a strange way though I was kind of looking forward to some time off.
Oh well, at least I can continue to work with some amazing people and save a little bit of money.
Speaking of work, here is another quick sketch I did while scanning some animation. Feeling a little inspired by "Wind in the Willows", which is not a bad thing...

Julian! Where's my gun!?...

Hey all,
The singer, piano player, songwriter, creator of good things and good friend, Julian Velard, this past month commisioned me to design a t-shirt to sell at his performances. The process was fantastic and he was a joy to work with.
Tonight he played tonight at the Rockwood Music Hall and unfortunately I missed the performance because I had to work late. (not too happy about that) You can check out his music at his website www.julianvelard.com and if he happens to come by your area I highly recommend you check him out.
As you can tell the image to the left is the final design for the t-shirt but it wont be printed with the red pencil (obviously). Oh and the text was done by Julian's friend.
